I got burnt for a teaser, where I wrote “triple bombing in Iraq kills 25”. My boss says it should be “triple bombings” following the logic of using “twin bombings”. I didn’t take it lightly and proceeded to Google if somebody else uses ”triple bombing” and I found out people in CNN use it in the singular form.
*insert head desk scene here*
The boss called me again, this time, telling me they are not too sure because in sports, it is phrased “The Celtics win in triple overtime”. Numerical Series + Noun without an S.
*insert winding discussion of singular plural formations here**
I told them: I’ll just use “A series of bombings”…Please.
And I did.
go moka!
